Ratios: Amex 1:0.8, Citi 1:0.8, Capital One 2:1.5, Bilt 1:1. Chase ended transfers 2025-10-16. West Coast-DXB was 186,000 before May 2026; post-May price not confirmed.
- Emirates Skywards, JFK-MXP or EWR-ATH one-way, First (fifth freedom)Pre-May 2026 price conflicts: TPG (Dec 2025) 'at least 102,000', AwardWallet (Feb 2026) 108,000. Post-2026-05-20 First price not confirmed. Same elite-status requirement.
- Qantas Frequent Flyer, JFK or BOS-DXB one-way, Emirates FirstFrom 2026-03-31 Emirates uses a separate, higher Qantas table (JFK-MXP 147,800; EWR-ATH 177,300; ORD/DFW/IAH/LAX/MIA/MCO/SFO/SEA-DXB 234,500). From 2026-02-18 Qantas Silver status or higher is required; no children under 9 (from 2026-01-21). TPG saw no Qantas availability on nonstop US-DXB or US-Europe flights in Jan 2026. Note: our award chart lists Qantas transfer_from without amex_mr; our transfer table and TPG list Amex 1:1.
- Air Canada Aeroplan, Emirates First (any route)Aeroplan kept access to Emirates First space in 2025 but at 'incredibly high redemption rates' (Frequent Miler); TPG found no Aeroplan availability in Dec 2025. No 2026 price confirmed.
Finding a seat: Emirates keeps First award space mostly for its own elite Skywards members. The Alaska partnership ended years ago. Qantas and Aeroplan still have access, but availability on US nonstops is rare. Upgrading a Business ticket with miles is a common alternative: AwardWallet notes that one-way Business Saver awards (new 2026-05-20) can only be upgraded at check-in or on board, so a confirmed First upgrade needs the pricier Business Flex Plus fare.
Before you transfer
- Skywards First awards need Silver+ status; Qantas First awards need Qantas Silver+ (from 2026-02-18).
- Carrier surcharges are among the highest of any program.
- Chauffeur-drive is not included on award tickets.
- Bank transfer ratios below 1:1 for Amex, Citi and Capital One raise the real points cost (188,000 Skywards miles = 235,000 Amex/Citi points or ~250,667 Capital One miles).
- 2025-05-12: First Classic Rewards restricted to Skywards Silver/Gold/Platinum (Emirates notice reported by Frequent Miler and Executive Traveller).
- 2025-09-16: Amex MR to Skywards cut to 1:0.8 (our transfer table).
- 2025-10-16: Chase transfers to Emirates ended (our award chart).
- 2026-01-13: Capital One to Skywards cut to 2:1.5 (our transfer table).
- 2026-01-21 / 02-18 / 03-31: Qantas restricts and reprices Emirates First awards (TPG).
- 2026-05-20: Skywards premium-cabin awards up ~15%; JFK-DXB First 163,500 to 188,000 (Upgraded Points).

Emirates keeps First award space mostly for its own elite Skywards members.
Which lounge comes with Emirates first class?
Emirates First Class Lounge, DXB (Concourses A/B per our lounge list naming: 'Emirates Business / First lounges') Also: Chauffeur-drive for First (Mercedes S-Class or similar in North America) on paid tickets; NOT available on Skywards First Classic Rewards or on partner award tickets (Emirates T&C)
Does flying first class change the climate cost?
The footprint is the seat, not the currency. A first-class seat takes more of the aircraft per person than economy. Paying with points emits the same as paying cash for that same seat.
Is this up to date?
