Good to know
CommBank Awards closed on 29 Sep 2026 and was folded into the bank-wide CommBank Yello points program. Yello points are earned on CommBank credit cards (Smart and Ultimate, among others), with earn rates that depend on the customer's Yello tier (Diamond, Gold, Plus, base). Qantas transfers: Ultimate cardholders only, monthly auto-transfer, $149/yr opt-in fee (was $90 for Awards). Smart Awards lost Qantas access from 1 Oct 2026. Velocity: Smart and Ultimate, monthly auto-transfer, $99/yr opt-in fee (waived for the first 12 months for first-time opt-ins between 5 Nov 2026 and 5 May 2027, plus a 20% bonus for 6 months). Velocity opt-in opens 5 Nov 2026 and the first transfer is on 25 Nov 2026, so it is not yet live on 2 Nov 2026. Qatar: no fee, on-demand transfers from 1 Oct 2026. Old Awards rates: Qantas 2.5:1, Velocity 2:1. Qatar was previously a CommBank Awards partner and returns. Auto-transfer partners (Qantas, Velocity) move the entire eligible balance each month, so these are not on-demand transfers.
